We’re Changing …

Hello.

We haven’t gone away, we’re just changing the look of our website and how we do things so forgive us for not keeping you all in the loop.

Here’s a little update on what we’ve got going on.

We’re currently working with Creative Scene, the Creative People and Places project for North Kirklees. Jacqui Wicks and Ralph Dartford were awarded and artists commission to run a music project in Cleckheaton and they’ve been making a glorious racket every Thursday and Saturday morning at Matthew’s Coffee House. We’ve got a little showing of the work on Saturday 21st March at 11am and Church Grange, Church Street Cleckheaton. If you’re about, need a break whilst your doing your shopping or passing en route, pop in and join us for a cuppa and a sing song. I am advised there will be cake.

We’re also working with Cafe Lux in Pudsey, a wonderful community cafe that is part of the Robin Lane Wellbeing Centre in Pudsey. For them we’re programming an initiative called ‘Friday Night Music Club’. Every second Friday in the month we offer a taste of something different, from 1940’s harmonies, via classic poetry texts set to music, to the thrashings of the ukulele, there’s a ‘something for everyone’ feel about Friday Night Music Club and folks are fighting to get seats.

Our relationship with the fine folks at Junction Goole continues and we’ve just completed the 3rd annual Uke Off which showcased the talents of four different ukulele bands from Yorkshire. The splendid Grand Old Uke Of York who really ought to be representing us at Eurovision, Tenfoot Ukes from Hull, Some Like It Ossett (our house band) and the splendid Ukulele Junction.

BUT … and this is the BIG BUT … our BIG project for 2015 is to promote our very first National Tour. We’ve just heard that Arts Council England will fund ‘The People’s Republic Of Poetry’ working in partnership with A Firm Of Poets and 20 venues around the UK. We’re taking our brand of participatory and inclusive arts on tour, with these fine spoken word artists. We’ll create opportunities for over 200 participants and 40 established poets and are really excited to get going. Hence the hiatus whilst we reshuffle and sort ourselves a spangly new website.

Thanks for tuning in and we’ll be back soon with further announcements.
